PROJECT: RHAA PROPOSED DESIGN PLAN VISUALS
Royston, Hanamoto, Alley, & Abey, a major San Francisco Bay Area landscape architectural firm, has generously offered to assist TACMC in designing/planning/creating the bronze statue memorial plaza. Their portfolio of completed projects include projects at University of California, Berkeley; Union Square, San Francisco; Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco; Golden Gate Park Master Plan, San Francisco; Glacial Point Lookout, Yosemite; Mexican Cultural Heritage Garden, San Jose; Calistoga Veterans Memorial, Calistoga. In honor of their founding partners of Japanese American founding partners, Asa Hanamoto, Kazuo Abey and Harold Kobayashi, RHAA is doing the work pro bono.
The artist and foundry selected to create and install the bronze sculpture are Sandra Shaw and the American Fine Arts Foundry. The proposed statue is based on photographs taken by Dorothea Lange in 1942 of young children dressed in their Sunday best on the way to Tanforan.
Proposed statue preliminary visual designs.
The entire project is easily accessible through either mass transit via BART or freeway in the San Francisco Bay Area and its seven million residents.
